Between his growing office duties, his battles with Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman and his new haircut, it looks like a lot is going down in WWE COO Triple H’s life—both on and off screen.
It seems that there may also be some family strife thrown in, too. In this week's (subscribers-only) F4W Newsletter, Bryan Alvarez offers an update on the relationship between Triple H and his father-in-law, noting that there is increasing tension between the two due to the current Brock Lesnar/Triple H programme and the COO's unhappiness with his character's direction:
"Although HHH's power backstage has increased exponentially over the past year or two, Vince McMahon still has the final say on many important matters, not the least of which is Hunter's program with Brock Lesnar. HHH is said to be convinced that he's more effective as a heel, but McMahon is insistent that he remain a babyface. One source said there appears to be growing unspoken tension between the two over the issue, particularly since SummerSlam."
Alvarez then offers an update on the heavily-anticipated Lesnar/Triple H rematch, noting that it is currently scheduled to take place on the biggest event of them all: "The latest word is that they are now targeting WrestleMania for the rematch. That means the proposed Lesnar vs. Undertaker match is out the window. For now."
It will be interesting to see if anything comes of the lingering tension between Triple H and Vince. It is no secret that Hunter is being groomed to take over the company eventually; whether the workaholic Vince, a notorious control freak, is truly willing to sacrifice a large part of his power to his daughter and son-in-law remains to be seen. Indeed, as long as the WWE owner is around, it seems that he will always have the final say.
