Over the last few days, WWE's official Twitter account has released a number of cryptic tweets that seem to relate to Kane and The Undertaker, all using the hashtag #RestinPieces.

Of course, “rest in peace” is a well-known catchphrase of The Undertaker, and this seems to be a play on words of that phrase. It is this author’s belief that these tweets relate to an upcoming comic book starring the two iconic wrestlers, and possibly also to a televised reunion for the Brothers of Destruction to promote the release.
Cryptic messages have often been used to herald the return of Kane or The Undertaker, the latter of which appears to be what most sports sites are guessing.
Survivor Series is fairly soon, but this still seems a bit early for that. WWE started tweeting on September 25, and Survivor Series is not until November 24, and this is why I disagree with those writers. I also think Kane will be involved in whatever WWE has planned.
Why do I think this? Let's look at what has been said so far in these cryptic tweets.

 

This was the first tweet. The attached image shows fragments of what appears to be cloth, but it is hard to tell. The colours of the fragments of cloth are red, black and white.
Red is a colour closely associated with Kane, whom WWE often refer to as the Big Red Machine, and black is definitely the colour of the Lord of Darkness, The Undertaker. 
This tweet came next, and is a reference to the words uttered by The Undertaker shortly after Kane's debut in 1997.
This tweet references The Undertaker's debut, which was at the 1990 Survivor Series on November 22. 
Up to this point, it would indeed seem WWE was hinting at something relating to the Brothers of Destruction. Given The Undertaker's long association with Survivor Series, a return at the event would not be out of the question.
When we last saw The Undertaker, he was written off of TV after a beatdown by The Shield, following a short rivalry where The Shield were on one side and Kane, Daniel Bryan and The Undertaker were on the other.
Kane, too, is currently absent from WWE—written off after being taken away, unconscious, by the Wyatt Family at SummerSlam. He is taking time off to star in a new feature film, See No Evil 2, and would likely be ready to return to WWE by Survivor Series.
This could lead to a potential matchup between the two Brothers of Destruction against either The Shield or the Wyatt Family. A third possibility would be to have the two men joining a larger team for a Survivor Series style match against Triple H's Corporation stable.
However, a few hours ago, a new tweet was issued, which seems to confirm—in this writer’s mind—the purpose of the tweets.

Todd McFarlane is, of course, a renowned legend of the comic book world, best known for the Spawn series.
McFarlane also produces a toy line and runs a film studio, but this much hype for an action figure would seem a bit ridiculous. Also, any film starring The Undertaker would likely be made by WWE Studios. In any case, when people think of Todd McFarlane, the first thought that springs to anyone’s mind is comic books, and WWE must know that this is what referencing him directly implies.
The image included in the tweet is slightly blurry, but it is clearly a picture of The Undertaker's gloves. This is out of character for a company with access to top-quality cameras. Something else seems slightly amiss about the image, suggesting it is not a photo but a piece of artwork that's drawn by hand.
With Kane due to star in See No Evil 2, a comic book tie-in starring the two Brothers of Destruction would no doubt prove lucrative. With The Undertaker currently absent from WWE TV, it would be nice if he received a cameo in the movie, which would strengthen the tie-in. The comic could, perhaps, be released as a prequel to the movie and help get some early buzz for See No Evil 2.
Comic books and horror/slasher movies have a long association. McFarlane's dark and gritty art style would fit nicely with the intimidating, spooky image of wrestling’s most demonic brothers. Releasing comic book prequels to movies has been done successfully in the past.
If WWE were to bring The Undertaker back for a one-off appearance to help hype the release of a comic book, I doubt it would be at Survivor Series. It is unlikely he would be working a match at the end of November when he needs to ensure he can be healthy a few months later for the Road to WrestleMania, especially after an expected SummerSlam match was nixed due to Undertaker's ongoing shoulder issues.
It is also unlikely he would be involved in a run-in or any other kind of surprise appearance, because Survivor Series rarely receives a high enough buyrate for this to be an effective use of the Phenom to promote a product.
A far more effective way to utilise The Undertaker in a one-off appearance would be on Raw. Millions of people watch Raw, compared to the few hundred thousand who might watch Survivor Series.
If he were to appear on Raw, it could increase Raw's viewership dramatically. In contrast, it is unlikely that a cryptically hinted at but not officially announced appearance at Survivor Series would have much impact on the PPV's buyrate. Either way, a far larger audience will view the segment on Raw.
An alternative explanation circulating the Internet seems to be the idea that these tweets are to promote the special Phenom Edition of WWE2k14. This strengthens my belief that any kind of appearance by The Undertaker will be on Raw if it is being done for the purpose of promoting products rather than as a buyrate-increasing attraction. 

Using a segment on Raw to cross-promote a game and a comic would be more challenging for WWE, but it could be done. WWE could sell the game alongside the comic in stores, and any TV appearance will generally create a lot of Undertaker-related buzz.

Night of Champions 2013 results : Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton Results

World Wrestling Entertainment's Night of Champions pay-per-view has come and gone, and the immediate future of the promotion has once again been altered by the conclusion of the event.
In the night's main event, WWE champion Randy Orton defended his title against Daniel Bryan. For weeks, Orton and COO Triple H have done everything in their power to derail the surging Bryan in his quest to become not only WWE champion, but also the new face of the company.
Despite feeling the wrath of The Game, The Viper, their henchmen The Shield and a reluctant and despondent Big Show, Bryan has never quit.
Leading into Sunday's show, he had gained quite a bit of momentum. Could he maintain that momentum by defeating Orton and regaining the title he never should have lost?
Here is a look at what went down in the main event of the 2013 Night of Champions pay-per-view event.

The Match
A late start to the match (10:33 ET) ensured a fast-paced bout with little time for rest spots.
Bryan with the armbar. Orton escaped, applied a side headlock and took him over. A shoulder tackle from Orton followed and he posed. He hit the ropes, bounced off and got caught with a knee lift to the midsection.

Bryan delivered a series of kicks, backing Orton into the corner. Bryan followed up with a series of punches before Orton slipped out and delivered a back breaker from the middle rope.

Orton took control, sending Bryan into the corner and delivering a clothesline, then a second. He covered for a count of two.

Bryan and Orton traded right hands, but Orton cut him off and delivered a front suplex across the top rope. Another two count followed.

Orton slowed the pace down with a side headlock, but Bryan showed great heart, fighting out of it and delivering a few hard rights to the head. Orton almost immediately regained control and delivered the Garvin stomp, one of the signature maneuvers in his arsenal.

The champion climbed the ropes and delivered a series of hard right hands to the face as the crowd inside the Joe Louis Arena chanted "NO!"
Bryan moonsaulted over a charging Orton and delivered a running clothesline that turned the tide in his favor. A running dropkick into the corner followed, then a second stunned the champion.
The challenger unleashed with a series of kicks to the upper body, then perched Orton on the top rope and sent him crashing to the mat below with a hurricanrana.

With Orton outside the ring, Bryan charged through the ropes and caught the champion with a suicide dive. A dropkick from the top rope by Bryan sent Orton back to the outside. Another suicide dive between the ropes and the challenger was surging late in the bout.

Orton again ducked out of the ring and Bryan tried to make it a trifecta of dangerous dives, but Orton caught him rushing in and delivered a hard right hand to the face. He grabbed a front face lock and pulled Bryan to the edge of the ring. A DDT to the arena floor followed.

Bryan made it back into the ring just as the referee reached the count of nine, avoiding the count out. Orton called for the RKO and grabbed hold of Bryan’s head, only to be shoved toward the referee. Bryan exploded with a dropkick, sending Orton crashing into the referee.
A second official rushed to the squared circle as Bryan grabbed a hold of Orton for the No Lock. Orton shoved him into the ropes and caught him with a snap powerslam. The Viper set Bryan up for another of his trademark DDTs, but Bryan countered with the Yes Lock as the arena came unglued.

Orton crawled across the squared circle and barely managed to grab onto the bottom rope, forcing the No. 1 contender to break the hold.

Bryan kept on the champion, delivering kicks to the upper body before charging into the corner. He would crash and burn, however, as the champion ducked out of the way.

Orton set Bryan up top and attempted a superplex. Bryan ducked underneath and crotched the champion.

Bryan tied Orton in the tree of woe and delivered stiff kicks to the upper torso, followed by a running dropkick.

Bryan tried for a top rope side superplex, but Orton pounded away with successive rights to the forehead to block and sent Bryan off the top rope. Bryan recovered, though, and caught Orton with a forearm to the face. He hit a superplex and followed with a beautiful diving headbutt.

A two-count followed before original referee Scott Armstrong returned to the ring. Bryan unleashed a series of kicks to the body, but Orton caught him on the last attempt and delivered a T-bone suplex.

Orton again tried for the RKO, but Bryan countered with a backslide. Orton rolled out and Bryan delivered a stiff kick to the head. The running knee, and a fast count by Armstrong, gave Bryan the championship win.

Commentators Michael Cole, JBL and Jerry Lawler trumpeted the fact that Bryan had finally proved his worth and was, finally, the face of WWE.

Highlights
The series of suicide dives by Bryan really put over his willingness to throw caution to the wind in order to achieve his goal. The two successful dives also set up one of the more clever moments of the bout, as the incredibly smart Orton suckered his challenger in and caught him in the face, slowing Bryan's offensive onslaught and regaining control of the match.
The referee bump, as well as the match-deciding fast count, will likely come back into play on Monday's Raw and could very well prove to be the most memorable, and important, moment of the bout.
Finally, Bryan celebrating with the WWE title to close out this month's show without any interruptions is a welcome sight. He has been on the receiving end of so much abuse by the evil corporate COO Triple H character that, to see him enjoy a few consecutive nights of success was nice.
Even if there is a great chance that the title will be ripped away from him on Raw.

Analysis
The night's main event was a pay-per-view-quality main event that continued the evolution of Daniel Bryan as a main event babyface.
The action was crisp and clean, and the match helped save a show that was rapidly heading toward mediocrity. Bryan once again delivered in a high-pressure setting, even if it was a notch or two below the classic against John Cena at last month's SummerSlam.
It was another stop in what has become the most important angle on WWE programming and will likely continue to lay the groundwork for the moment that Bryan finally does vanquish the dictatorial Triple H and his followers.
On a night where several high-profile matches never really clicked, the main event delivered an entertaining match that will have a major effect on WWE programming in the coming weeks.

WWE Night of Champions 2013 Matches: Bouts That Will Live Up to the Hype

Sunday evening, World Wrestling Entertainment will attempt to add to its impressive streak of high-quality monthly events with its annual September offering, Night of Champions.

Headlining the pay-per-view extravaganza is the main event between WWE champion Randy Orton and No. 1 contender, Daniel Bryan.
Joining that much-anticipated bout are two matches featuring some of the most talented individuals on the roster.
In a two-on-one handicap elimination match, CM Punk will look to finally gain revenge for Paul Heyman's betrayal of him back at July's Money in the Bank. In order to do that, he will have to go through intercontinental champion, and Heyman client, Curtis Axel.
World heavyweight champion Alberto Del Rio will face the toughest challenge of his current title reign when he meets the man once dubbed "Mr. Pay-Per-View," Rob Van Dam.
With so many major matches meeting or exceeding expectations this year, there is a great deal of hype surrounding the headlining bouts.
Which begs the question: Which matches on Sunday's card will live up to the hype?
Here is what you can expect to meet your expectations.

 

WWE Championship Match: Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton

On the June 24 edition of Raw, fans caught a glimpse of just how well Bryan and Orton work together as they did battle in a No Disqualification match. Bryan picked up the submission win there, using a kendo stick to enhance the pain Orton already felt as he was trapped in the No Lock.
That victory, over one of the most protected stars in WWE, legitimized Bryan as a main event babyface and continued the build of one of the best rivalries of the year.
Since then, the feud between the two has taken a wild and crazy left turn.
Bryan defeated John Cena for the WWE title in an exceptional main event at SummerSlam. Confetti fell from the rafters and fireworks exploded in celebration of the improbable win.
The "Voices" played and Orton rushed to the ring, ready to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase. Bryan egged him on, daring him to step into the ring. Orton stopped and began heading back up the aisle.
That's when the unthinkable happened. Triple H, who was guest referee for the Bryan-Cena match, spun the new champion around and dropped him with a Pedigree. Orton returned to the ring, handed over the briefcase and captured the WWE title for himself three seconds later.
Since then, Orton and Triple H have held Bryan down and made his life a living hell, all in the name of what is "best for business."
Sunday, Bryan has the opportunity to prove The Game and the WWE champion wrong when he tries to regain a title that was unjustly taken from him a month ago. Will he be able to overcome the odds to realize his dream or will the odds be to great?
Keep an eye out for The Shield, Triple H and The Big Show, all of whom could potentially appear during the match.

Why It Will Match the Hype
History dictates that, as mentioned above, champion and challenge have outstanding chemistry with one another. The matches against each other over the spring and early summer were outstanding and planted the seeds for Sunday's main event.
There is no doubt that the match, which is Night of Champions' greatest hope for a legitimate show-stealing performance, will deliver from a ring-work standpoint.
Add to it the excitement and unpredictability that the potential interference from any number of fringe players will add to the contest and you have all the makings for a newsworthy pay-per-view main event.

 

 

World Heavyweight Championship Match: Rob Van Dam vs. Alberto Del Rio

Alberto Del Rio continues a stellar 2013 with another defense of his World Heavyweight Championship on WWE pay-per-view.
At SummerSlam, Del Rio delivered a smart, underrated performance against Christian that, on any other show, would have been the best of the night. After defeating Captain Charisma, he appeared to be unstoppable.
Enter Ricardo Rodriguez, Del Rio's former personal ring announcer and friend.
A month earlier, the World champion brutally assaulted Rodriguez, bringing an end to their longtime friendship and breaking out on his own for the first time in his WWE career.
Rodriguez would gain a measure of revenge by introducing his new friend, a man he claimed would stand up to people like Del Rio: Rob Van Dam.
Since returning at July's Money in the Bank pay-per-view, Van Dam has been outstanding between the ropes. Matches with the likes of Randy Orton, Chris Jericho and Del Rio have reaffirmed how special a performer he is motivated.
Now, with the opportunity to win a title he has never worn throughout his decorated career, expect the high-flying Van Dam to pull out all stops on Sunday night.
And, in the process, avenge new confidant Rodriguez.

Why It Will Match the Hype
Like him or not, Alberto Del Rio has been one of the most consistently great in-ring performers in 2013. Matches against The Big Show, Jack Swagger, Dolph Ziggler and Christian have showcased his ability to adapt his style to accommodate various types of performers.
He will have to reach deep into his bag of tricks for what promises to be an extended, lengthy title defense against the often-times unorthodox Van Dam.
RVD's combination of hard strikes and high-flying offense makes him the type of performer who excels when fighting from underneath. His exciting offensive arsenal lends itself well to the babyface comeback.
Del Rio has showcased the ability to work well as a babyface or a heel throughout 2013, but he is usually at his best as the heel who wears down his opposition, keeping them grounded and unable to utilize his full skill set.
In short, non-title matches on Raw and SmackDown, Van Dam and Del Rio have shown an ability to work well together.
If they can sure up their work and keep from getting too sloppy, which should not be an issue given that more time is allotted for matches to develop on pay-per-view, Del Rio will once again be looking at a potential show-stealing performance.
In his first opportunity to win heavyweight gold on a WWE pay-per-view since 2006's ECW One Night Stand, Van Dam will re-establish himself as one of the sport's must-see performers.

 

WWE United States Championship Match: Dolph Ziggler vs. Dean Ambrose

After Triple H's shocking actions at SummerSlam, which saw him flatten Daniel Bryan with a Pedigree and help Randy Orton win the WWE title in a move he claims was "best for business," Dolph Ziggler was one of the more vocal Superstars on the roster.
He spoke out against the WWE's COO, saying he never really trusted him.
This earned Ziggler repeated beatings at the hands of The Shield, most notably U.S. champion Dean Ambrose, who seemed to be hellbent on destroying the Showoff.
Ziggler never gave up, continuing to fight until he was physically unable to do so.
After Friday night's SmackDown, which saw him team with The Usos to take on Ambrose and Shield teammates Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns, it appears as though Dolph will have the opportunity to stick it to his boss, and Ambrose, by winning the United States Championship.

Why It Will Match the Hype

The moment a match between any two Internet favorites is announced, there is a certain level of hype surrounding the bout, regardless of the storyline or its background. Ziggler vs. Ambrose is one of those matches.
Ziggler is an outstanding professional wrestler who, like fine wine, has gotten better with time. He goes out of his way to make others look good, and that is something Ambrose can always use.
Ambrose may very well be the most unique in-ring performer on the roster, thanks to a brawling style that sees him utilize open-palm strikes as well as much more. Ziggler, on the other hand, is seemingly at his best when he is taking a beating and making others look like world-beaters.
He is a master seller and a hell of a bumper who relishes in the opportunity to showcase his skills. A veteran of dozens of WWE pay-per-view events, Ziggler will do everything in his power to get the very best out of the highly talented yet still very raw Ambrose.
If these three matches can live up to the hype, can match the expectations placed on them ahead of Sunday's show, Night of Champions will continue one of the hottest pay-per-view streaks in WWE history.

The Rock...teaming up with WWE Studios

Over at his official Twitter account, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has confirmed that he will be teaming up with WWE Studios for the first time to make The Fall Guy.

Earlier today, the star wrote:
The Hollywood Reporter revealed last week that Johnson was in talks for the lead role in the film, which is the movie reboot of the popular '80s action show of the same name. Per this report, filmmaker McG (Charlie's Angels, Terminator Salvation) will be directing the piece.
WWE Studios will be collaborating with production company Hyde Park Entertainment to fund the movie.
The Fall Guy, which ran on ABC from 1981 to 1986, revolved around a Hollywood stunt man, played by Lee Majors, who made money on the side as a bounty hunter. The show itself was pretty entertaining, in a cheesy, '80s type of way. Johnson will be taking on Majors' role for the film.

This is a smart investment for film division: Thanks to the phenomenal financial success of Fast & Furious 6 and G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Johnson is now one of Hollywood's top leading men.
His films may not win any Oscars or garner great critical acclaim, but people are still lining up in droves to see them.

The star is essentially Arnold Schwarzenegger for the '00s. An actor blessed with a great physique, tremendous charisma and a talent for picking fun scripts.
Any movie Johnson stars in is bound to do well. 
As a plus, he will likely be making appearances on WWE television in 2014 or 2015 to plug the movie whenever the film comes out—it seems obvious.

WWE’s real life Superman John Cena recently underwent surgery on his left elbow, but may be returning to programming next month.
Cena previously returned to action from neck surgery freakishly quick, but a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via wrestlinginc.com) states that he’d only be returning for Breast Cancer Awareness Month:

While John Cena won’t be able to wrestle until around Royal Rumble time, there is already talk of bringing him back to WWE TV in October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Cena wants to start making appearances for the company to help with their big Breast Cancer Awareness campaign. Cena’s rehab for his injuries will be one of the storylines for the second half of this Total Divas season also.

The idea of Cena returning strictly for the purpose of promoting Breast Cancer Awareness Month may sound a little unexciting on paper, but it’s hard to imagine him returning and not interacting with the McMahon’s in their massive storyline.
The Leader of the Cenation has proved that he’s more than capable of cutting powerful promos, and the WWE would certainly use him to get Triple H more heat, similar to how Edge was used on Raw.
However, it’s possible that John returning next month could make his eventual in-ring return a little less exciting.
 An extended absence is exactly what his character needed, and if he’s around for the month of October it may feel like he barely left at all.
Still, it’s possible that the WWE could find a way to have him promote Breast Cancer Awareness and involve him in the McMahon family storyline in such a way that makes his eventual return all the more must see.

Tonight's WWE RAW takes place from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Confirmed for tonight's show is the return of Goldust as he will be facing WWE Champion Randy Orton. If Goldust wins, Cody Rhodes gets his job back. Also confirmed for tonight is the return of Edge, who will be promoting Syfy's Haven. It's worth noting that Christian, who has been out with a concussion, is also advertised for tonight. The dark match announced locally is CM Punk vs. Paul Heyman and Curtis Axel in a handicap match.

WWE Report: Return Date for Both John Cena and Sheamus Revealed

Were it not for Daniel Bryan's infectious surge of popularity, WWE would be in dire straits insofar as having someone the fans can rally behind.
This is especially true since two of WWE's most visible babyfaces—both John Cena and Sheamus—came down with major injuries within weeks of each other.
While Cena and Sheamus are recuperating from different ailments—a triceps tear and torn shoulder labrum, respectively—the recovery time table for both is virtually the same.
That is, WWE has publicized the fact that both superstars have four to six months of laborious rehabilitation ahead of them before they get physical in a ring again.
Still, given the similar recovery prognosis, one would expect Cena and Sheamus to make their respective returns on different shows, be it a future Raw, SmackDown or pay-per-view.
Yet, according to Bryan Alvarez's members-only Figure Four Weekly Newsletter (subscription required), the two are scheduled to pop up at the exact same event, the 2014 Royal Rumble:

...The plan right now is for both Cena and Sheamus (torn labrum in his shoulder) to return for the Royal Rumble. One WWE source said that with both of them likely to return on the same night, it seems doubtful that another big surprise like Jake the Snake would be factored into the show...

While, ideally, it may be better to space out the in-ring returns of Cena and Sheamus, it does make sense that WWE would do it to shore up arguably the second-biggest event of the year.
For instance, the 2013 Royal Rumble event benefited from the long-standing announcement of The Rock vying for the WWE Championship come to fruition when "The Great One" wrangled with, and ultimately ended, CM Punk's 434-day reign.
Moreover, having Cena and Sheamus return on the same night would appropriately galvanize the WWE Universe in anticipation of the road to WrestleMania 30.
The only cause for concern is if the WWE brain trust shifts its focus to either one or both returning grapplers, undermining Bryan's race to the finish line as the face of WWE.

By the looks of things, WWE Superstar Dolph Ziggler has backstage heat.

He's not been booked terribly well recently. Granted, the creative team have never booked him competently—just look at how many times he lost to Sheamus in 2012—but these last couple of months have been awful, even by his standards.
He nonsensically lost cleanly to Antonio Cesaro on Superstars last week. On WWE Raw, he's been presented as a cowardly babyface too afraid of losing his job to do what's right and stand up to the corporation.

To make matters significantly worse, on Friday's SmackDown during Miz TV, Triple H verbally tore him apart by mocking his size and questioning whether he could truly make it in WWE.
In this week's (subscriber-only) F4W Newsletter, Bryan Alvarez gives an update and writes that Ziggler is likely being punished for something he said in an interview last month.

The feeling is it stems from an interview he did around the time of SummerSlam. The problem is he did tons of interviews around SummerSlam, some big and some small, and in all of them I've checked I haven't seen anything that one would deem particularly offensive. The problem is also that with WWE and the decision-makers at the top, sometimes the things that set them off are things that a normal human being wouldn't even think twice about. But it is believed he is paying the price for something he said.

Assuming this is true, it does look very unfair on WWE's part. Sure, the 33-year-old can be frank in interviews, but he's never outright said anything shocking.
The situation is even more mind-boggling when you think of the things people like Randy Orton and CM Punk have gotten away with saying.
Orton infamously humiliated Diva Kelly Kelly when he made remarks about her personal life on a radio show in 2011. Easily the worst interview he's ever done, this was out of line and totally unprofessional.
CM Punk, meanwhile, has been known for tweeting about competing TV shows—while Raw is actually airing.

Not to mention his childish outburst towards a ringside fan two weeks ago. (Apparently, if you go to a wrestling show and boo a performer, it justifies getting bombarded with vicious personal insults.)
Neither were punished for their transgressions—at least not in any noticeable way.
If WWE insist on being so petty when they dish out strict punishments to talent, they could at least be somewhat consistent.

Report: Daniel Bryan's Feud with Randy Orton to End Sooner Than Expected?

The McMahon’s family feud transformed from a contrived wrestling angle into an immersive storyline at SummerSlam.
Daniel Bryan’s feud with Randy Orton and Triple H has been the highlight of the program, but a recent report from F4Wonline (via wrestlinginc.com) states that it could be ending as soon as October.
The report notes that Kane will likely face Bray Wyatt at Hell in a Cell and goes on to say:

Another match scheduled for Hell in a Cell is Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton. As of this week, the Bryan vs. Orton feud was scheduled to run through Night of Champions, Battleground and Hell in a Cell. No word yet if they plan on putting the WWE Title back on Bryan at one of these pay-per-views, but word from this week’s TV tapings is that Orton is heavily written into the WWE Title picture until January at least.

There are two takeaways from this. First, it’s surprising that the feud between Bryan and Orton would end before Survivor Series. A blowoff match between the two is seemingly the perfect main event for the huge pay-per-view.
Even more interestingly is the fact that there appears to be a good chance that Bryan won’t regain the title—or at least, not for any decent period of time.
It seems like a foregone conclusion to many that The American Dragon would reclaim the WWE championship at some point in their feud, but perhaps the WWE has fooled us.
Could Orton be the centerpiece of this whole angle, and not Bryan? It would frankly be disappointing if this was the case.
There’s no question that Daniel Bryan should hold the company’s top title. His talent and popularity more than justify a title reign.
If this report is true, and their rivalry ends at Hell in a Cell, with Cena out of action it would be safe to say Randy Orton’s next opponent would be CM Punk.

 

Latest Updates on Sheamus and John Cena's Recoveries from Injury for Sept. 2

 

Two warriors wait on their wounds to heal as John Cena and Sheamus have been forced to do their recent battles in hospital recovery rooms and rehabilitation centers.

As two of WWE's top stars recover from injury, their fans must be as impatient to see them back in the ring as those men are to be back between the ropes. Fortunately, both the Cenation leader and The Celtic Warrior have only reported good news via Twitter.
Eyes will continue to focus on both Cena and Sheamus as they work to get back to the ring, as the weapons they use in their WWE battles slowly return to fighting condition. Sheamus' shoulder isn't ready for clubbing chests yet, but he remains positive and is taking advantage of his time off.

The All-Star Money in the Bank ladder match left Sheamus hurting—and not just because he lost. The brawler took a number of nasty falls, any of which could have either caused or aggravated the injury. Had any normal person taken this spill, they would have torn more than a labrum.

As WWE.com informed fans in early August, Sheamus suffered a torn labrum in his left shoulder, which required surgery. Sheamus shared his uneasiness about going under the knife with his Twitter followers, still using his trademark sense of humor.
On Aug. 13, the doctors completed the surgery successfully, leaving Sheamus with a bit of a bionic limb.
The anchors are designed to keep the labrum attached until it can reattach itself to the bone. Dr. Howard J. Luks, an orthopedic surgeon, wrote on his website that it takes two to three months "before you can start to put any significant stress onto your shoulder" after this procedure.
In the meantime, Sheamus has begun physical therapy, which likely involves minimal movement for the moment.
The former world champ has seemingly been in good spirits, staying active on Twitter and attending the Wizard World Comic Con alongside AJ Lee in Ohio later this month. Not having to travel with WWE has also allowed Sheamus to visit and enjoy his homeland.
Being able to be home far more often than he could on WWE's grueling schedule likely means Sheamus will return refreshed both mentally and physically.

John Cena

Cena lost the WWE Championship to Daniel Bryan at SummerSlam and then bowed out, readying himself for surgery, recovery and being away from in-ring action.
While his elbow may have been the more noticeable part of his injury, it was a torn left tricep that started all the trouble. He delayed surgery until after SummerSlam, a surgery that WWE.com says will keep him out for four to six months.

 

 

To fix the issue, Cena went to the renowned Dr. James Andrews, a surgeon who has worked on a long list of athletes, including WWE wrestlers Shawn Michaels, Edge and CM Punk.
After the post-SummerSlam surgery, Cena tweeted that it was a success.
He was initially unable to move his arm more than a week after the operation, but he has since updated that his mobility in the limb increased just a touch.
That's not quite the degree of motion required for doing the Five Knuckle Shuffle, but it's a step forward. More recently, Cena tweeted a picture of his gnarly scar with his soon-to-be-removed stitches in full view.
Those stitches are scheduled to be removed Tuesday, but seeing the state of his arm makes it clear that Cena's not hopping back into the fray anytime soon. Both he and Sheamus could conceivably come back by the Royal Rumble, but it will depend on their rates of recovery and how well their rehabs go.
So far, both Superstars have showed off their hunger and impatience to return, so there's no doubt that they'll put in work come rehab time. Fans are going to be able to watch Sheamus and Cena's journeys back, one photo and one tweet at a time.

F4Wonline has reported the planned times allotted for all matches booked for WrestleMania 29.

The problem with a supercard such as the ones we see at WrestleMania each year is that it's difficult to find the time to allow each talent to give a substantial performance.

From what F4Wonline is reporting  no matches will be plagued with the 'seven-minute treatment' (see Punk vs. Mysterio at WrestleMania 26, among others).

The times for each match (not including time for entrances) are listed below in ascending order:

1. Chris Jericho vs. Fandango – 10 minutes
2. Ryback vs. Mark Henry – 12 minutes
3. Kane and Daniel Bryan vs. Dolph Ziggler and Big E Langston – 12 to 15 minutes
4. The Shield vs. Randy Orton, Sheamus and Big Show – 15 minutes
5. Jack Swagger vs. Alberto Del Rio – 15 minutes
6. CM Punk vs. The Undertaker – 20 minutes
7. Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar – 20 to 30 minutes
8. The Rock vs. John Cena – 25 to 30 minutes

Since plans change so rapidly, don’t be shocked to see the event pan out differently.

However, if the report is accurate, fans both have blessings and concerns.

It's good to see the tag team title match last more than a few minutes, as the 12 minute mark should be enough time for the stars involved to tell a full story.
Jericho vs. Fandango only going 10 minutes is a little strange, though. Perhaps WWE isn't confident in Fandango's ability to perform for a longer amount of time given he's debuting on such a grand scale.

However, with Jericho being one of the company's best performers, 10 minutes feels like under-utilization of his talents.

It's also no surprise that Rock vs. Cena II is given the greatest amount of time, but Rock has struggled to keep up in the past. His match with Punk at Elimination Chamber was 21 minutes and was resthold heavy.

CM Punk vs. Undertaker getting the smallest amount of time out of the big three matches is also a little disappointing.

It does make sense though, as The Phenom is getting old, and these two expert performers could certainly steal the show in 20 minutes.

You'll also notice that the eight man tag involving Team Rhodes Scholars, Brodus Clay and Tensai isn't on the list, which probably means it'll be short.
