WWE: Why Brock Lesnar Should Be a Focus of the Company

When Brock Lesnar made his long-anticipated return to the WWE the night after WrestleMania, most fans were hoping that he would be a huge part of the product. Lesnar's involvement has been on and off, however, and the WWE should make a greater effort to focus on him.
I understand that the company is handcuffed to some degree since Lesnar's year-long contract limits his appearances, but the WWE isn't doing enough to market him. I figured the whole point of signing Lesnar was to interest the mainstream audience, but I don't feel like that has happened.
Perhaps a small legion of non-WWE fans took notice when Lesnar faced John Cena at Extreme Rules and Triple H at SummerSlam, but Lesnar's appearances have been so infrequent that it is hard to gain any momentum on that front.
The WWE has twice explained Lesnar's absences by having him "quit" the WWE, and while fans of the product know that isn't really the case, fringe followers may think that it's true. There obviously have to be some lulls between his appearances in order to satisfy the contract properly, but there are ways to keep Lesnar in the public consciousness.
If John Cena were to take a break for health or personal reasons, I doubt the WWE would go weeks and months without so much as mentioning his name. You had better believe that the company would be airing clips of Cena granting wishes, helping children and being an all-around great guy so the fans won't forget that he is the face of the company.
Lesnar isn't the face of the company and he isn't a super face like Cena, but he is still a key cog in the operation. Rather than having Lesnar quit I would have shown vignettes of him training vigorously for his next opponent and allowed him to appear via satellite with Paul Heyman to call out the WWE superstars in the back.
He said that he was quitting WWE since he had already accomplished everything possible and the WWE could have furthered that to some degree. He could have continually appeared in pre-taped promos saying that nobody in the WWE is capable of beating him and that, of course, would lead to his next feud.
I assume that he is going to have one more match against Triple H at Hell in a Cell or SummerSlam, so my idea may not fit in with what the creative team wants to do, but Lesnar needs to be a focus regardless. Every time he leaves for an extended period of time, the WWE basically has to start from square one when he gets back as far as building him up and making him relevant goes.

When Lesnar initially lost to Cena and took a couple months off, I feel like that hurt him more than anything. Not only was he no longer in the public eye, but it was almost as if he took off with his tail between his legs after a loss. For someone who is supposed to be a legitimate tough guy and the most dominant force in the company, he was made to look fairly cowardly.
The writers attempted to rectify the situation by having Lesnar submit Triple H with the Kimura Lock at SummerSlam, but the damage was done in a lot of ways. Perhaps the effort to rebuild Lesnar would have worked if he hung around and dominated a few more guys, but he kayfabe quit again, so he can't get into any sort of rhythm, nor can the fans.
Love him or hate him, Lesnar is relevant outside the wrestling world and Vince McMahon seems obsessed with appealing to outside sources. For whatever reason, though, he hasn't capitalized on his opportunities with Lesnar thus far.
Perhaps Lesnar is dictating the situation and isn't willing to tape promos or remain relevant while he's away, but I'm banking on the writers not knowing how to do it. Lesnar is among the company's most marketable stars, yet they are allowing him to sit on the sidelines for large chunks of time, and that simply isn't smart from a business perspective.
