WWE News: Backstage Info on John Cena's Current Status and Post HIAC Plans

An initial warning: Those who aren't interested in the backstage talk, spoilers and rumours regarding the WWE should look away now.
When Ryback takes on CM Punk at Hell in a Cell next Sunday, there will be one man conspicuous by his absence.
Watching the latest episode of Monday Night Raw, one may have been fooled into thinking that John Cena may be kept out of the WWE Championship picture after the pay-per-view, considering his potential feud-building run-ins with Dolph Ziggler and Vickie Guerrero.
His involvement in general manager AJ's firing seemed the start of a slow-building storyline rather than a one-off altercation.
However, according to F4WOnline's latest report (h/t Wrestling Inc):

In case you missed it on last night's RAW, John Cena announced that he has been medically cleared to wrestle. The feeling is that WWE officials will still take it easy with him over the next month or so.
There are no plans to put him in the Hell In a Cell main event but he is expected to have a role. There has been talk of having Cena face the winner of Ryback vs. Punk after Hell In a Cell is over.

In breaking down the summary, I suppose there are two real notes of interest in the story.

• Cena will have some role to play in the Punk vs. Ryback main event.
• Cena will face the winner of the match, most likely Punk, at the next PPV.

It is possible, of course, that Ryback could walk away from the cell with the belt wrapped around his waist, but considering CM Punk's heel turn being billed as the storyline of the summer, this seems unlikely.
Some had also speculated that Cena could be added to the equation in a Triple Threat match at Survivor Series in mid-November.
But if we are indeed going to get the main event that we were supposed to get at Hell in a Cell, one has to wonder what the backstage plans are for Ryback.
To have pushed the fledgling superstar so far, so fast, and then drop him so suddenly could do more damage than if he had simply kept to squashing nobodies two at a time.
