WWE News: Huge Backstage Firing During Raw
WWE VINCE MCMAHON |
After last week's dismal rating and poor content, it appears Vince McMahon is pulling out all the stops this week.
As we all know, McMahon, John Cena and JBL are all back for this week's edition of Raw. Then, top that off with "The Governator" Arnold Schwarzenegger acting as this week's Social Media Ambassador, how can you go wrong?
So,with all of this "star power", one would think Vinnie Mac would have felt a bit at ease with Monday's lineup. Apparently, that wasn't the case, according to Dave Meltzer's Wrestling Observer Newsletter available to F4WOnline.com subscribers (via WrestlingInc.com):
Reports from tonight's RAW are that Vince McMahon has not been in a good mood today. This led to head RAW writer Brian Gewirtz being removed from his job after more than 10 years. Gewirtz is still working as a consultant.Vince reportedly told the producers he wants results or resignations. Everyone is said to be scared for their jobs.Overall, this is a huge move to make during a live show, especially considering how antsy people get once heads roll. I, for one, feel McMahon probably could have held off on this move until after the show. Don't get me wrong, I am not in his shoes, and I can only imagine how stressful it must be to put on a national show week in and out.
Then, add the fact that your show is up against Monday Night Football and the stress level increases tenfold. Granted, the WWE and Vince knew this when they debuted the show some 20 years ago. However, that doesn't change the facts.
In the end, the WWE has some decisions to make going forward, the first being who will head the writing department; then, who will carry the torch if Cena continues to get injuries like this. I'm not saying Cena is often injured, just stating that carrying the weight of a company is a lot to put on one man's back. Especially, when he is a workhorse and the face of your company.
