Out of all the big issues that WWE has to face at the moment, namely finding an opponent for CM Punk at Hell in a Cell, it appears Vince McMahon has bigger fish to fry, in the form of WWE announcer Josh Matthews.

As reported earlier, Vince McMahon made a surprise live appearance during Monday night's RAWactive experience. During his brief appearance, the chairman of the board took the opportunity to denounce Josh Mathews' announcing abilities after replacing Jim Ross on the broadcast.In response to Matt Striker asking him his thoughts on the show, McMahon responded, "I think, generally speaking, everything is pretty good about Raw, except one particular announcer." Striker then asks, "That Josh Mathews has to go, doesn't he?" The WWE chief responds, "Yes, he does."
I am hoping for Matthews' sake that this is simply a short-term issue that "The Boss" has with him. Even if that proves to be the case, that doesn't mean Mathews is safe by any means. Over the years, we have seen people come and go for seemingly no reason, other than getting on McMahon's bad side.
I, for one, don't have much thought on Matthews, so if he were to stay or go, I wouldn't be heartbroken either way. Don't get me wrong, I hate seeing people lose their jobs, just stating my opinion on the announcer.
If Matthews were to leave, he should be able to look back on his WWE career and be happy with his legacy. Especially considering he was a Tough Enough cast-off turned backstage interviewer who landed a gig as a commentator. Ultimately, Matthews is about two months shy from celebrating 10 years with the company, which is not too shabby considering the amount of people that have come and gone during that time.
So, one has to wonder if this is truly a work considering Matthews' storyline "lawsuit" against the company. If you are unaware, Matthews has been very vocal on WWE.com and Twitter about the safety of WWE's announcers due to a string of attacks from Kane in late August/early September.
Since this riveting masterpiece never really took off, Matthews' TV time has been very limited of late. So, one has too wonder if McMahon is working an angle to bring him back into the fold, or if he truly has beef with the announcer.
In the end, one thing is certain, the WWE will let us know the deal when they are ready.
