Brock Lesnar vs. The Rock Must Main Event WWE's WrestleMania 30

There is no better way to make WrestleMania 30 the biggest event in wrestling history than by having two of the biggest pay-per-view draws in sports—Brock Lesnar and The Rock—square off in the main event.
According to F4WOnline , that’s one of the top considerations for the company’s marquee event scheduled for April 6, 2014.
The Rock vs. Brock Lesnar is already being heavily discussed for either this year's SummerSlam pay-per-view or WrestleMania 30 in 2014. The main reason it didn't happen this year is because officials wanted The Rock in a WWE Title storyline. With Lesnar's schedule and everything else, WWE felt it would not have made much sense.
As intriguing as having The Rock and Lesnar square off in Los Angeles in front of the Hollywood crowd at SummerSlam is, this would be one of the biggest rematches in WWE history and shouldn’t be done anywhere besides the WrestleMania stage.
The WWE has a year to plan the main event of the show, giving both Lesnar and The Rock ample time to plan around the event and ensure everyone’s schedule lines up for the perfect long-term feud.
After booking ahead with The Rock against Cena over the last two years, the company has learned what to do and, more importantly, what not to do. The company won’t give The Rock vs. Lesnar away at SummerSlam unless there is a rematch planned for WrestleMania 30.
Since that is likely not the case—too many other ideas and feuds for these two wrestling behemoths—the WWE must save this dream feud for 2014.

How This Helps WWE

If Lesnar is indeed in the plans to be The Rock’s opponent at WrestleMania 30, that would be arguably the biggest main event in wrestling in terms of mainstream appeal.
WrestleMania 28 featuring The Rock was the best selling event in WWE history—1.3 million pay-per-view buys (h/t WWE.com)—and Brock Lesnar was a buyrate stud in his last year with the UFC (2010)—estimated 2,100,000 PPV buys for his two main-event fights —making the pairing a perfect fiscal match.

Lesnar also proved his worth to WWE in 2012, helping to boost the buyrate for both Extreme Rules and SummerSlam.

The WrestleMania 30 buyrates for a show featuring a main event with The Rock and Brock Lesnar together would shatter the old record.
While many fans would claim that this matchup featuring two part-time stars would bury the talent on the roster, that’s simply not true on a WrestleMania stage. Everyone knows that WWE blows this event out every year, and bringing back veterans for short stints is what the company has done over the last few years to boost excitement and profit.
This short-term feud won’t bury anyone. Instead, it will infuse huge amounts of money back into the product and will have the ratings through the roof. The more money made; the more money being spent on talent and improving the product.

Question on Everybody's Mind: SummerSlam 2013 or WrestleMania 30?

There is no denying the appeal to the WWE of doing a potential Rock vs. Brock match in Los Angeles at SummerSlam 2013—the movie stars will be out in force to support The Rock and see what Lesnar is all about now—but the grand stage of WrestleMania 30 in New Orleans is where this match belongs.
When we look back through the annals of wrestling lore, this is the kind of feud that should culminate in a great match on a WrestleMania stage.
SummerSlam is the company’s second biggest PPV, but WrestleMania is the WWE’s Super Bowl.
The biggest factor in deciding which event to have this match take place at will be the history between these two men. The Rock lost the undisputed title to Lesnar in 2002 at SummerSlam in the one and only match the duo ever had.
As much as the bout can be easily billed as their rematch 11 years later on the same SummerSlam stage, this matchup is simply too big of a draw to not be on the WrestleMania 30 card. Rematches of this magnitude and this long in the making don’t happen often and shouldn’t be squandered.
That’s why this main event needs a long-term build; just ask Paul Heyman.
Just like the WWE set the groundwork for The Rock and John Cena for a year leading up to their match, the company could easily put Rock in a bout at SummerSlam 2013 for the WWE title (likely against Cena or Punk) and Lesnar would cost him the win.
That would rekindle the rivalry on the stage it originally started while still saving the actual match for WrestleMania 30. The hype that would surround this rumored match would make the build to the 2014 show amazing.

Final Word

The WWE is a business first and foremost, and it is clear that the reported match between The Rock and Lesnar would put whatever show it’s on—SummerSlam 2013 or WrestleMania 30—over the top in terms of PPV buys.
As perfect as this match would fit on SummerSlam’s stage, the WWE would not want to upstage or diminish WrestleMania 30 in any way by giving away a match of that magnitude when they could save it.

As fans, the WWE Universe must realize that the company sees the number “30” and wants to blow the annual event out like none before. As seen by the way Vince McMahon and company pulled out every stop for Raw’s 1,000th episode, milestones are celebrated in spectacular fashion.
It would be about more than the main event of WrestleMania 30, though.
Not only would The Rock face Lesnar on the card, there is the likelihood that it would be Undertaker’s last show and the possibility that Stone Cold Steve Austin would be healthy enough to return.

Just imagine that possible card.

Adding The Rock vs. Brock Lesnar as the main event to a card that could already be shaping up to be incredible show would put WrestleMania 30 in the history books as one of the best events in wrestling history. Not to mention the oodles of money the WWE would make.
It’s WrestleMania or bust for this dream rematc
