When Sheamus hoisted his newly won World Heavyweight Championship above his head at WrestleMania XXVIII, it was the first time he could do so as a fan favorite on such a grand stage. Gone were the days of King Sheamus along with the assaults on timekeepers and announcers. This was the Sheamus
that people could truly get behind, cheering for him in every arena and
beating their chests along with The Great White when he signaled for
his finishing Brogue Kick.
So why isn't everyone getting behind him?
Through no fault of his own, Sheamus has been getting out-cheered in live situations. On SmackDown, his home to dominate, this is no cause for worry with the post-production capabilities of WWE. On Raw and pay-per-views, however, it becomes obvious that other wrestlers are getting the majority of positive chants. We heard this at WrestleMania and Extreme Rules with Daniel Bryan as well as No Way Out with Dolph Ziggler, where Jerry Lawler even had to try and convince us that the chants were for Sheamus.
Perhaps the hooligan should return to his rogue ways and abandon the fans for that very reason.
The world is against Sheamus. The fans will not choose him over the "bad guys" like Bryan and Ziggler, and the Booker T administration endorsed a full investigation into the safety of his finishing move. He set a record for the fastest World Heavyweight Championship victory in the history of WrestleMania. He has beaten the likes of John Cena, Alberto Del Rio, Chris Jericho, Triple H, Randy Ort...
Ah. Randy Orton.

While attempting to earn his way into a World Heavyweight Championship match at 2011's SummerSlam, Sheamus lost to Christian. The match followed with Orton, the champion at the time, driving his boot into Sheamus' skull. The atmosphere of WWE has changed since then, with Orton no longer utilizing the deadly kick to the head.
We have never received an explanation as to why that is, and despite
the obvious conclusion that it would be to avoid concussions, it is
something that is ripe for storyline material.
What better way to turn Sheamus than giving Randy Orton a taste of his own medicine?
Alberto Del Rio was able to make a case out of the danger of the Brogue Kick after his ring announcer Ricardo Rodriguez sacrificed himself for Del Rio's safety. This was a one-time occurrence and yet David Otunga immediately took on the case for himself. Orton had been doing this sort of thing for years.
Why the double standard? Sheamus could ask this question with a kick of his own.
Not only would this be a simple and effective way for Sheamus to switch sides, it would set up a great feud between Randy Orton and Sheamus, finally giving Alberto Del Rio something else to do. Furthermore, no matter who comes out of this as the World Heavyweight Champion, Dolph Ziggler will be keeping a referee very close.
This also opens up a new possible alliance I think could work out well. Who else on the roster is European, makes a living out of beating people up and is an imposing physical presence?
None other than Wade Barrett.
While I have no doubt that both Sheamus and Barrett are WWE Champion material (Sheamus having won that belt twice already), the things they could do together would make just as much of an impact as a title reign. Sheamus might even decide that he enjoys the Barrage better than any championship.
Why bother with the rules when you can just have more fun breaking them? That should be Sheamus' new M.O. as soon as the chance presents itself.
