WWE Backstage News on Randy Orton Push, Does He Deserve It?
WWE RANDY ORTAN |
But with the rise of CM Punk and Sheamus and
Orton's own backstage indiscretions, the Viper has had to make do with
lower profile feuds with the likes of Kane, Dolph Ziggler and Alberto del Rio.
No longer, according to F4WOnline, who today
posted a report that the third-generation superstar is on the verge of
breaking out of the shadows and back into a title picture
Per the report:
"Randy Orton is reportedly in line for a big
push within the next 6 months or so. The idea is to build him back up
over the next few months."
This adds to a report from the same source that
was released a little over a week ago that claimed "Randy Orton and
Dolph Ziggler will dominate the World Title picture in early 2013"
For fans of Orton, this recent rush of positive
news will come as a huge relief. There is a significant feeling for some
that he is being underutilised and held back to push others whilst less
deserving superstars on the roster have been given a bigger push.
His current popularity cannot be denied—in terms
of crowd reaction, it's arguable he receives pops second only in noise
to John Cena.
Orton's only main event appearance in the past
few months was in a Fatal 4-Way match at Over the Limit against Sheamus,
Chris Jericho and del Rio—his final PPV before beginning a two-month
suspension for violating the company's Wellness Program.
It was at this time that it seemed WWE's
relationship with Orton was nearing breaking point. There were rumours
abound that there was some serious backstage heat on him, with one
former talent even claiming Cena himself was lobbying for the superstar
to be fired (via Wrestling Inc).
As well as past controversies, some believe that
Orton is undeserving of another run with the World Heavyweight Title
simply because there are more up-and-coming talents on the roster
deserving of a push before him.
Though of course, the biggest question on
everyone's mind is not if the Viper can get back his title, but if he
can do it in the heel role he's desired to play for so long.
If he were to feud with Ziggler, a complete
reversal of character would have to be executed, with the Show Off
becoming a babyface in the process.
Whether or not Orton deserves to finally get his
way in this respect is a topic sure to inspire plenty of debate in the
coming weeks and months.
