Could Ric Flair end up as general manager to Raw, SmackDown or even both? It seems like that is one potential idea being thrown around for the legendary star by WWE.
Over at PWInsider.com, Dave Scherer notes in a Q&A session, when asked if WWE's long-running GM concept will ever end, that not only is WWE owner Vince McMahon a huge fan of the idea, thus meaning it will stick around, but that Flair's name has been bandied about as a possible candidate for an authority figure role in the future.
Vince McMahon loves the GM concept so I don't expect it to go anywhere, even though it's beyond tired.  There is a lot of talk that they will bring Ric Flair in to fill the role on both shows.
Flair's future in wrestling remains up in the air. He acrimoniously parted ways with TNA earlier this year, leading to speculation he would quickly resurface in WWE, a company he has always maintained a good relationship with, even making their Hall of Fame earlier this year as part of The Four Horsemen.
TNA's current lawsuit against WWE for issues related to contract-tampering seems to have put a halt to those ideas, for the time being at least, and it appears Flair will have to wait until the suit is settled before he can make his return to the big stage.
However, when he does inevitably return to WWE, a GM role would be perfect from him. Such a part would make the most of his charisma and star power, and would mean he could avoid participating in actual matches. As anyone who saw his (usually embarrassing) bouts in TNA can attest to, this can be considered a blessing.
